Heritage Foundation Report Warns Dems’ Green Energy Push Leaves America Vulnerable To Chinese Dominance

A new analysis from the Heritage Foundation argues that the Biden-Harris administration’s aggressive green energy agenda is walking America into China’s economic grip. The report claims that the administration’s push to transition away from fossil fuels and toward green technologies is strategically playing into China’s hands, given the country’s dominance in the supply chains for raw materials needed for wind turbines, solar panels, and electric vehicles (EVs).

The report, authored by Diana Furchtgott-Roth and Miles Pollard, contends that U.S. reliance on Chinese-controlled minerals and technologies puts America’s energy security and economic strength at risk. “By requiring the use of green energy products, America is effectively ceding economic power to China,” the authors warn.

The analysis highlights that China’s dominance in these sectors is the result of strategic initiatives, including leveraging the World Trade Organization (WTO), acquiring foreign companies, and benefiting from extensive government subsidies. The report argues that trying to compete with China’s heavily subsidized green energy sector through similar U.S. subsidies is a losing battle.

Instead, the authors call for a repeal of green energy subsidies and a focus on developing America’s own abundant mineral and fossil fuel resources. The report also criticizes the Biden-Harris administration’s decisions to block or slow key domestic mining projects, such as Alaska’s Pebble Mine, which could help reduce reliance on Chinese imports.

The Heritage Foundation urges a policy shift that prioritizes U.S. energy independence and security over green subsidies that ultimately benefit China, warning that the current path threatens both economic growth and national security.
